Absolute Value Input

The absolute value function operates formally as a piecewise function:

f(x) = x    x>0

         -x   x<0 

Common notation is that |x|=absolute value of x.

What happens if the function's input is taken as an absolute value? So that f(|x|) is graphed instead of f(x) ?
